Local School Partners Honored with Prestigious Award

 

AUSTIN, TX.  - The Texas Association of Partners in Education (TAPE) honored two Spring Branch Independent School District partners at the annual state partnership awards ceremony on January 26th in Austin.  The Good Neighbor Program won the Crystal Award, the highest honor, in the Partnership Innovation category for a district partnership program that functions outside the box and introduces new ways to engage partners or grow a partnership program.

Linda Buchman, SBISD Community Relations Officer and Sue Loudis, Coordinator for Partnerships & Volunteers received the award for SBISD. The Northbrook High School Childress Foundation Academy won the Gold Award in the Service Learning category for a school program that provides students with service learning opportunities that are proven to have a positive impact on student achievement and the community.  Donald Miller, teacher and coordinator for the NBHS Childress Academy accepted the award.

This year TAPE had over 75 partnerships nominated. Each award finalist will be featured in the publication of Powerful Partnerships used as a capacity building resource throughout the country.   The TAPE award winners exemplify the highest commitment to the students attending public schools in Texas.

The purpose of the Texas Association of Partners in Education is to provide leadership to schools, businesses and communities and to assist public schools in building partnerships to enhance student success. TAPE is headquartered in Austin.
