District A Councilmember Brenda Stardig held an event at Karbach Brewery to recognize all the good done by citizens of District A. Those recognized included: volunteers who established and ran a shelter at the Trini Mendenhall Community Center for victims of Hurricane Harvey; the First Responders, HPD, HFD, and CERT members who were out in their communities helping where they were needed; and the taxpayers of District A who approved the purchase of a High Water Rescue Vehicle (affectionately called the “High-Five”) which operated out of Station 5 during Harvey. Attendees were encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys and gifts for donation to Toys for Tots. In attendance were Heather Cook of Representative Ted Poe’s office and Representative Dwayne Bohac, as well as community leaders Victor Alvarez, Rino Cassinelli, Dave Durham, and Ricardo Barnes.
