The construction of infrastructure improvements along Long Point Road are now 30 to 40 percent complete, according to engineers Mahmoud Salehi and Chris Edward of the firm Cobb Fendley and Associates.

“The contractor is finishing the underground utility, the water and the sanitary on the west portion of the project,” Salehi reported, and added that the construction will soon be moving east of Bingle.

The bridge construction is also underway, with workers having already installed columns and drill shafts, he said.

“So far, they’re on schedule,” he added.

The “cosmetic” portion of the project wherein the Spring Branch Management District will add brick paving similar to what exists on Blaylock will have to wait until the other paving on Bingle  is complete, he said.

At one time apx. 15 years ago, at Holy Cross Lutheran there was a public display of all proposed improvements along Long Point, including consolidating lots, eliminating many of the innumerable driveways exiting onto Long Point, and in general the “refurbishment” of Long Point from a dismal, ugly E-W corridor in Spring Branch to something more functional and beautiful. Whatever happened to all those plans? It’s still as much an eyesore as it’s ever been. Very disappointed.
