We exist to enhance the well-being & development of the families of Spring Branch through a multi-agency collaboration that provides educational, recreational, health & social services.

Summer flew by and the holidays are around the corner – it feels like we are booking it towards 2022 already!

Speaking of “booking it,” for the past few years we have had the privilege to partner with Harris County Public Library‘s Curiosity Cruiser, a mobile library, at our Fall and Spring Fiestas. During the pandemic, the Curiosity Cruiser team began bringing free children’s and youth books to distribute during many of our food distributions with the Houston Food Bank.

Since then, our partnership continues to grow in transformative ways! Over the summer, the Curiosity Cruiser brought weekly book giveaways and library resources open to anyone in the community.

Additionally, the Library staff provided very engaging Storytime and STEM activities to our on-site Boys and Girls Club members. The youth LOVED these additions to the great programming at the Club, checking out books to bring home and picking out a book they could keep each week.

This Fall, we have “Library Tuesdays” from 11AM-4PM at Spring Branch Family Development Center. We are elated to see community members taking advantage of this resource. We already have regulars coming to check out books in English and Spanish. With resources for adults, children, and everyone in between, the library supercharges everything we do here at SBFDC.

We look forward to expanding more engagement opportunities when it is safe to do so.

In the meantime, tell a friend about this opportunity and if you need to get your library card, come visit us on Tuesday!

Please reach out to us at outreach@sbfdc.org if you would like to volunteer at the mobile food pantry distribution at 8AM on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
