ROAR Story Slam is an annual live storytelling competition where six finalists are selected from our submission pool to perform their unique, creative, and authentic Korean American story for a chance to win a cash prize of up to $1,000. Through ROAR Story Slam, we want to encourage Korean Americans to recognize the significance and range of our community’s narratives and to document and preserve them for the community and beyond.

⭐️ Our theme for this year’s ROAR Story Slam is “What the Heck?” ⭐️

“What the heck” is often used to express dismay, frustration, or anger. But there are times we use it to emphasize feeling surprised or doing something we shouldn’t do. Whether good, bad, funny, or downright awkward, submit your story and if selected, have a chance at a cash prize!

‼️ Rules ‼️
– Entrants must be at least 18 years of age.
– Submissions must be in English. Any Korean or other languages used must be translated.

– Selected finalists are required to attend professional storytelling coaching sessions, provided free of charge to you, via Zoom between February – March 2023.
