Texas-style Coworking Space Opening This Week in the Spring Branch District

Freelancers, professionals and small businesses looking for a cost-effective, feature-rich office space will find a new option starting this week at a new Texan-inspired environment equipped with leading-edge amenities in the Spring Branch District.

The Ranch, located at 1220 Blalock, opens on Valentine’s Day with 5,500 square feet of office space designed with a Texas Ranch in mind. The Ranch features a large community space, themed meeting rooms and rooftop deck.

“It’s a balance of rustic and modern, homey and professional,” said Michael Haapaniemi, president of The Ranch.

“The Ranch is Texas-style coworking. It’s a place you’ll love coming to every day, as well as showing off to clients – bold, inspiring and a taste of home,” Haapaniemi said. “Southern hospitality will drive our core values, and that will be evident in how we operate.”

Located off I-10 between the Energy Corridor and Downtown Houston, The Ranch offers an unbeatable location, Haapaniemi said, with convenient access to all parts of the city.

“We’re also excited to be a part of the growth and development taking place in Spring Branch,” he added. “With the influx of people and contemporary businesses, we’re positioning ourselves for success as Spring Branch becomes a more popular destination in Houston.”

For many entrepreneurs or small businesses, the cost of leasing a dedicated office space is too great to justify, and the short-term commitments, networking opportunities, and sense of community offered make coworking an attractive alternative.

Small businesses can join The Ranch by taking a private office, which feature height-adjustable desks, or they can utilize flexible workspace in the community area with a “flex desk” membership. Virtual memberships are also available for those who’d like to send mail to The Ranch and book access to the space on a less frequent basis.

The Ranch is now giving tours and is offering a complimentary day pass to Spring Branch residents through May 1.

Amenities of The Ranch include free parking, meeting rooms, phone booths, a receptionist to receive mail, high-speed wifi, unlimited coffee and happy hours, with craft beer on tap, and other member events.

The team at Curry Boudreaux Architects worked hard to “bring the outdoors in,” Haapaniemi said. The community space features floor-to-ceiling windows that interface with the Ranch Deck. With a giant oak tree perched over the outdoor space, members will enjoy a “treehouse effect,” Haapaniemi said.

“Instead of copying a New York or Silicon Valley-style coworking space, we decided to create something uniquely Texan, geared more towards the people, culture, and industries that call Houston home.”
