It’s February, and love is in the air as the most romantic holiday of the year approaches. Houstonians all over town are planning the way they are going to wow that special someone (or perhaps just treat themselves to a little alone time.) Get some great ideas for or just take some time off from planning for Valentine’s Day, and check out one of these events around the district.

Feb 7th – My Simple Thai Cooking at the Trini Mendenhall Community Center

If you’re thinking of trying to cook for your date on Valentine’s Day, but don’t know what to make, maybe it’s time to try a cooking class! The Trini Mendenhall Community Center has a Thai cooking class on the first Wednesday of every month, providing a perfect opportunity for you to pick up a recipe and perfect it in time for the 14th. With a little practice, you might even be able to prepare a full three-course meal of Thai favorites like Tom Yum Gai, Panang Curry, and Mango Sticky Rice.

Feb 8th – Ribs Night at The Branch

Join the folks at your favorite neighborhood craft beer bar for their weekly ribs night. St. Louis-style BBQ ribs are available for $15, and requests for sides are posted day-of in the event, so you can vote on what you’d like to eat. It’s an ideal opportunity to spend a Thursday out with friends and dish about your V-Day plans.

Feb 25th – Love, Art & Agnes Moffitt Park

Come celebrate the installation of the new High Plains Drifter sculpture, the first civic art in District A, at Agnes Moffitt Park! This will be a Valentine’s Day-themed party with kid-friendly crafts, a pet costume contest, BARC adoptions on-site, and more. There will also be live music provided by The Slags, and a photo booth!

Feb 12th – SBEF’s Annual Sporting Clay Tournament
