Langham Creek
Conveyance Improvement Project
|

On Wednesday, November 10th, City Council passed an interlocal agreement with METRO and Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) for the Langham Creek Conveyance Improvement Project.
This project consists of the preparation and delivery of a preliminary engineering study to improve the conveyance capacity of Langham Creek by modifying the Clay Road bridge over Langham Creek. The Clay Road Bridge (The Bridge) is currently the only location that provides for the flow of water from Langham Creek into the Addicks Reservoir. The current span of the Bridge does not adequately convey storm water from the approximately two-mile floodplain upstream of Clay Road into the downstream Addicks Reservoir contributing to upstream flooding in extreme events.

Restaurant and Meal Program

The Houston Eats Restaurant Support (H.E.R.S.) program supports restaurants located in communities disproportionally impacted by COVID-19 and provides high-quality meals to vulnerable Houstonians located in these same neighborhoods. H.E.R.S. is intended to provide this critical food access and small business support through the end of the year, when Houstonians need additional assistance to feed their families and small businesses need additional assistance to stay open.
In order to qualify to receive food or to supply food, you must be located in one of the following zip codes:

The West Houston Leadership Institute (WHLI) is a breakthrough community leadership program. Leaders from corporate, non-profit, and community organizations apply to participate in a 10-month program to learn and dialogue about issues that affect West Houston.
WHLI’s class year is an opportunity to interact with civic and corporate leaders in a small group; to ask challenging questions, receive honest answers, and explore solutions to real problems. WHLI is structured to include dialogue sessions with subject matter experts to discuss dynamic issues impacting the overall health and direction of West Houston.

The Energy Corridor District will host two free movie nights on December 11th and 12th at the Addicks Park & Ride. The movie nights are designed to encourage support of District businesses and bring holiday cheer to the Energy Corridor as part of the District’s Twelve Days of Christmas campaign.
By registering on Eventbrite, you can attend the Wheels and Reels Movie Nights on Friday, December 11 th for a screening of Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch (rated PG) or on Saturday, December 12 th for National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (rated PG-13). On both nights, the gates will open at 6:00 p.m. and the movies will start at 7:00 p.m. The District’s Wheels and Reels Movie Nights are contactless events – stay in your vehicle and enjoy a free screening of a holiday movie.
One registration per vehicle is required. Participants can enjoy FREE admission for everyone in their vehicle by supporting a District business before the event. View our Dining Guide below for ideas!

Congratulations to the Spring Branch Family Development Center on a successful mobile food pantry event. More than 600 people were served! Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers who made this possible. My office donated face masks and zoo tickets.
