Guest Speaker: Sonya Ramirez – Lieutenant
Lieutenant Ramirez began her career in Law Enforcement with the Houston Police Department in 1997 through 2004. She then made a career move to the METRO Police Department and served as a patrol officer for 5 years. In 2009, she was assigned to the Training Division where she held the position of Equipment Control Officer / Range Master. Later that year, the Chief of Police offered her the position of Rail Liaison/Community Outreach Officer, which she accepted and held for 3 years. In 2012, she was assigned to the Homeland Security Division as an Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) officer. Lieutenant Ramirez held that position for 1 year before returning to the patrol division. In 2014, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In 2016, she started attending police academies in the efforts of recruiting new officers to the department. As a Sergeant, she has supervised Night Patrol, Evening Power Rail, Day Patrol, Dispatch, Evening Rail, and Evening Patrol shifts. In 2021, she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. She has been the Command Lieutenant over Evening Power Rail, Night Patrol, Day Power Rail, Evening Rail, Day Rail, and Evening Patrol shift, a position in which she currently holds.

  • Discussion – Bus Stop Issues, Security and CARE Program takes care of the matters with the homeless in collaboration with COH, County and other entities to help these individuals get placed in homeless shelters.
