The City of Houston is preparing for the upcoming cold front. Please make sure you are also prepared, as we are expecting cold weather beginning Sunday night and possible precipitation beginning Monday morning. Temperatures may not get above freezing Monday afternoon through Thursday morning. The timing of the cold weather and precipitation remains uncertain, so please plan ahead now.
  • Please plan on being where you need to be by Monday evening, and be prepared to stay there for 36-48 hours.
  • While there are no current concerns from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), there is always a chance of power issues during times of excessive ice/freezing rain. So while outages are not expected at this time, it is always a good idea to prepare in case that changes.

Warming Centers
Warming Centers will open on Sunday, 1/19/25 at 6:00 PM and will close midday on Thursday 1/23/25. Animal kennels will be pre-staged at Fonde CC and Metropolitan MSC, and BARC animal control officers will be able to deliver other kennels as necessary.
