To help more students enroll into HCC and UT Tyler’s Engineering Program, HCC is  increasing faculty positions at its Alief, Spring Branch and Katy campuses.

The affordable program that costs less than $20,000 allows HCC students the opportunity to obtain a two-year Associate of Science in Engineering Science (ASES) degree and transfer to UT Tyler, which is now conveniently located at HCC’s Alief Hayes Road campus, to complete a Civil, Mechanical or Electrical engineering bachelor’s degree.

Designed to reach an under-served population, HCC’s professors have industry experience and look forward to the opportunity to change the face of engineering as its program degree seekers are 30 percent Hispanic, 23 percent Black and 26 percent female.

Since its inception in 2012, HCC’s ASES degree seekers have grown from 178 in Spring of 2013 to 498 as of spring 2014. This increased enrollment has led to a great demand for additional classes specifically in Engineering, Physics and Math (Calculus I, II, III and Differential Equations).

Those interested in becoming a faculty member need to have a Master’s Degree and minimum of 18 graduate hours in the program area that will be taught.  Positions can be found on www.hccsjobs.com under job reference numbers 003560 (Engineering), 2710 (Physics) and/or 000044 (Math).  Applicants are also encouraged to contact HCC Northwest Math Chair and/or HCC Northwest Physical Sciences Chair (for Engineering and Physics).
