Budget season is just around the corner! The proposed City of Houston Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 budget is expected to be released on May 6, 2025, and will be considered by City Council on June 4, 2025.

Upcoming Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee
The next Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee meeting will take place on Thursday, May 8th, 2025 at 10:00 AM. The topic of the presentation is:

  • Presentation from the Houston Police Department on the Greater Houston Police Activities League.
  • Presentation from the Collective Action for Youth.

Property Tax Workshops by the Harris County Tax Office
Mill and Overlay on W Little York Rd.
Work Authorization has been issued to mill and overlay the existing road surface on W. Little York Rd from Brittmoore Rd to Beltway 8.
Construction has been scheduled to commence on May 5, 2025 and is anticipated to end in June.
Antoine and Westview Update

This project is related to a large sanitary sewer line cave-in at Westview and Story. While it might appear that work is not being done at Westview and Antoine, this section must remain open while the work is being done farther down the street.

The contractor is in the process of running equipment through the line, and then the pipe will be completed and shipped to install. This process will likely last one more month depending on weather and manufacturing.

Panel Replacement on West T C Jester Blvd between Dacoma St and West 34th St.
Work Authorization has been issued for panel replacement on West T C Jester Blvd between Dacoma St and West 34th St. Construction has been scheduled to commence on May 5, 2025, and is anticipated to be done at the end of June.

I had the honor of presenting a Proclamation to Crime Stoppers for National Crime Victims’ Rights Week and recognize organizations that assist victims and advocate for victims’ rights.

At the first ever Honor Guard Graduation Ceremony, Chief Muñoz announced that there is a one year wait list to become a Houston Fire Fighter. Congratulations!!
