Community Events From March
Highlighting some of the many community events from the previous month!

The District A Team and I volunteered at Kids’ Meals, and we were joined by Council Member Ramirez and Davis.

Since 2006, Kids’ Meals has been making and delivering free, healthy meals directly to the homes of hungry children. They deliver over 8,000 meals every day! They deliver 15,000+ meals every day when kids are out of school.

Great time at the Spring Branch Color Run! Thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers, and participants who support Spring Woods and Northbrook High School proms!
I met with the Houston Police Department and the Mayor’s Office for Homeless Initiatives. We discussed ways to address homelessness in our community (services, housing, HPD intervention when appropriate, etc.). I appreciate everyone working on this complicated issue.
Thank you, Houston Police Department NW Division and the City of Houston Solid Waste Department for the I-10 at Post Oak encampment abatement! All individuals staying at this encampment were offered services.
Congratulations to Memorial Park for their 100th birthday celebration!!
Coffee with Law Enforcement! Thanks to the Houston Police Department – North Division for a great event on March 14th! And thanks to everyone who showed up to talk about public safety.
Had a great time at the Shadow Oaks Civic Association Spring Fling this on March 23rd! Thanks to all the volunteers who put this event on, and special thanks to the Spring Woods High School students for the face paint!
We had a great visit with some of our new constituents (after redistricting) to discuss erosion issues. Thanks to everyone who met us out in the rain to tackle these issues!
The Decoy Bar hosted a community meeting to discuss noise complaints from nearby residents. Owners of The Decoy, HPD Commander Leon, and I addressed concerns and shared insights on actions the bar, City, and HPD could take to resolve these issues.

This meeting marks a positive initial step towards addressing the concerns. I appreciate the active participation of community members, and will continue to look closely into this issue.

I attended HISD’s State of the District event. District A covers 5 school districts!
We attended the Assist the Officers (ATO) Gala to support this great organization! ATO provides short-term, immediate financial assistance to peace officers in the Greater Houston area critically injured or disabled in the line of duty.
I attended the Brighter Bites Gala. Since its inception in 2012, Brighter Bites has delivered more than 40,000,000 pounds of fresh produce and millions of nutrition education materials to more than 475,000 individuals (including teachers)
in multiple cities across the country.

We celebrated Women’s History Month with multiple events throughout the city. City Council has 10 women representing our city!

Thanks to the Greater Houston Partnership for hosting the Women in Government Reception!
