Please note that your water rates will increase beginning this month. Although there will not be an inflationary increase this year, rates will increase based on the adoption of the Water & Wastewater Cost of Service Rate study.

The additional funds will pay for the increases in the cost of operating, maintaining, and repairing the combined water and wastewater utility system. I voted against the annual rate increase because there were other ways at the time to pay for these necessary repairs.

I encourage you to visit www.HoustonWaterBills.org to calculate your new estimated bill. Please contact my office with any questions or concerns.

Water Repair Dashboard is Live
The Water Repair Dashboard on Houston Public Works’ website is now live. Houston Water measures open work orders for repairs, and the dashboard displays the total number of work orders in real-time.

The dashboard can be found under ‘Drinking Water Operations’ at houstonpublicworks.organd provides a drop-down option to sort by council district.  (Please remember that work orders can consist of more than just water leaks – they also include repairs on a water line, a damaged asset, fire hydrants and valves that aren’t working.)

Public Works is committed to repairing every water leak. For FY25, HPW increased water leak repair funding to pay for additional contractors.  As of February 2025, Houston Water has three contractors performing water line repair work, along with in-house crews. Additionally, HPW has additional contracts to be awarded in mid-March and mid-June.
