Representative Lizzie Fletcher
Dear Neighbor,
Earlier this month, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) implemented its Risk Rating 2.0 methodology, using industry best practices and cutting-edge technology to get a better understanding of your property’s unique flood risk and how that risk can be reflected in the cost of your insurance. The new methodology will enable FEMA to deliver insurance rates that are equitable, easier to understand, and better reflect a property’s flood risk.
National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policyholders who signed up for new policies on or after October 1 are subject to these changes. On April 1, 2022, all remaining policies will be subject to the new rating methodology.

On Monday, October 25 at 7:00PM, Houston City Council Member Abbie Kamin and I will be discussing these changes with FEMA representatives during an informative webinar where we will also answer your questions.
