The Spring Branch Management District (SBMD) is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, safe, and appealing community through its Business Improvement Grant (BIG) and Demolition Grant programs. These initiatives provide essential financial support to commercial property owners, helping to uplift the district’s appearance and safety standards, while reinforcing a sense of community.

Boards Intention Behind the Grant Programs

  • To support and encourage the upkeep and revitalization of the district
  • Increase the safety of commercial areas and stimulate more public interaction.
  • Provide incentives to local businesses to elevate the look and feel of the community.
  • Increase the marketability and occupancy rate of commercial buildings.

About the Business Improvement Grant Program

The Business Improvement Grant is a matching based program that reimburses commercial property owners or business operators for eligible improvements made to their properties. Grants available under this program are eligible for an amount up to 50 percent of the total expenses for qualified improvements, with a maximum reimbursement not to exceed $10,000.

About the Demolition Grant

The SBMD Board of Directors has also established the Demolition Grant program to support community revitalization. This program provides financial assistance for the demolition of unsafe, non-compliant, or unused structures, making way for new development or improvements.

Purpose of the Programs

  • Enhance the commercial viability and sustainability of commercial properties in the district.
  • Improve the physical appearance of businesses and visibly enhance the district’s commercial corridors.
  • Aid in the retention and expansion of existing businesses.

Why Participate? By applying for the BIG program, you can receive financial aid for exterior upgrades to your property, attract more customers, and contribute to the overall appeal and economic vitality of the district.
