Now that work on the westbound lanes of Long Point has been completed, the next step is to move to the opposite lanes, said Chris Edwards of Cobb Fendley & Associates, the engineering firm directly involved with the project.

“They are continuing the roadway construction,” Edwards said. “Traffic has been moved to the north side of the road, and they are beginning the construction on the eastbound lanes on the south side.”

Demolition has begun and construction crews are already working on the utilities and sanitary sewer portions of the project, he added. Construction on the Buttermilk Creek bridge has been completed.
