The stretch of roadway on Long Point Road between Hollister and Pech is now undergoing a major overhaul, according to Mahmoud Salehi, a principal with the engineering firm of Cobb Fendley.

Construction began in early March to create a 16-inch water line, as well as storm sewer and wastewater lines, he said. A traffic control plan is in place to connect the 16-inch water line throughout the entire length of the project.

Also, part of the bridge over Buttermilk Creek has been demolished to make way for an expansion, he added.

Salehi said the Long Point project is a 300-day construction initiative that should be completed by next summer.
