Get ready for a vibrant celebration of Polish culture, food, and community spirit at the 2025 Polish Harvest Festival, hosted by Our Lady of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church in the Spring Branch District.
The festival kicks off on Friday, Sept. 19, at 4 p.m. with an official opening ceremony. The evening promises to be filled with excitement, culminating in a disco party.
On Saturday, the festivities continue from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., showcasing a rich entertainment program that includes performances by renowned dance groups like Wawel and Piast Polish Dance Group from Las Vegas. There will be plenty of opportunities for attendees of all ages to participate in fun contests, such as musical chairs for both adults and kids.
Sunday wraps up the festival with a special Catholic Mass celebrated by Father Mariusz Lis at 10 a.m., followed by engaging performances and activities that honor Polish traditions. The day’s highlight features the Miss & Mister Polonia Houston Challenge, along with additional dance performances, culminating in the official festival closing at 6 p.m.
No festival is complete without delicious food, and this year’s menu will not disappoint! From Polish street pizza “zapiekanka” to Polish sausage to those beloved Polish dumplings, “pierogi,” and delightful desserts, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to taste the traditional dishes that reflect the rich culinary heritage of Poland while enjoying refreshing drinks, including beer and wine.
One of the festival’s most popular attractions is the Silent Auction, featuring an exquisite collection of handmade porcelain, jewelry, art, and costumes. This is an excellent opportunity to take home unique treasures while supporting local artisans and contributing to the festival’s success.
The 2025 Polish Harvest Festival isn’t just about entertainment; it’s an event that fosters community spirit, cultural appreciation, and a chance to connect with friends, family, and neighbors.
Yessica Krozel, Polish Harvest Festival Entertainment Chair and Artistic Director of Dance Group Wawel, said the weekend festival is not to be missed.
“Indulge in delicious Polish food, lively music, and authentic crafts, while experiencing breathtaking folk dances from our local Dance Group Wawel and special guest group, Piast Las Vegas. It’s a weekend filled with fun, tradition, and unforgettable performances.”
The Houston Polish community is a large and vibrant one, with an estimated 55,000 people of Polish descent living in the area.
Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Church is the spiritual and cultural center for Houston’s Polish community, offering spiritual guidance, hosting the annual Houston Polish Festival, and preserving Polish heritage through events, a Saturday Polish School, and a traditional music program.
The church was established in 1982 to serve Polish immigrants and offers a place to connect with Polish culture and other community members.
Be sure to also stop in at a local business to support and take home goodies like the ones you sample at the festival.
Up the street at 1780 Blalock Rd., the Polish Food Store is stocked with traditional and authentic Polish cuisine, including fresh and smoked meats, sausage and ham, as well as herring, cheeses, frozen pierogi, soup mixes, pickles, sauerkraut, beets, mustard, condiments, seasonings, fruits and juices, candies, and other sweets.
