For Sonya Winfree, Jeremiah Winfree and Stefanie Solis, finding a location for their business in the Spring Branch District was a little like finding a second home.
Except they want it to feel like yours.
“Our place, your vibe,” is the tagline on their website. They finally found the place, and now they want the community to bring the vibe.
Trading Spaces HTX, a 1,200-square-foot event space, opens this week on Blalock near Campbell, in the same shopping center as Cobble & Spoke and Simply Greek Gyros.
“Finding a spot was a journey. Spring Branch is really hot right now and spaces are moving fast,” said Sonya Winfree. “This space had the perfect square footage, ample parking spaces and in a great location. Also, we live 5 minutes from the space, which makes it very convenient.”
Sonya and husband Jeremiah live in Spring Branch. Jeremiah also runs an AV/security company in Spring Branch (NXT Level Smart Home). Stefanie resides in southwest Houston but is no stranger to the Spring Branch area.
“We all either live, work or play in the area,” Solis said.
Spring Branch was a “no brainer” for Trading Spaces HTX, the owners agree:
“We love the community, diversity and opportunity it offers,” said Sonya Winfree.
And they also know some of the limitations.
“Being homeowners in Spring Branch, we know the challenges of living in some of the newer homes being built. There is not a ton of space or parking to host get-togethers or events,” Winfree said. “With Trading Spaces HTX we will provide a medium-sized space to host all of your intimate parties and gatherings without breaking the bank.”
Trading Spaces HTX is an opportunity for other area businesses as well, especially outside vendors.
“We allow any vendor of your choosing,” Solis said. “We also offer in-house rentals and services. We can work with you to create a memorable ambiance.”
Trading Spaces is available to local photographers for shoots, to yoga instructors for classes and for pop-up shops.
The space features a built-in sound system, two 65-inch flat-screen televisions, internet and free parking, among other amenities. It’s ideally suited for corporate events, bridal and baby showers and birthdays.
Prior to Trading Spaces, Sonya Winfree ran a crafting shop, Something Extra HTX, and the venue owners are not wasting any time bringing crafting experiences to their new space.
“I truly believe it is OK to be over the top and extra on every occasion,” Sonya said.
Just in time for Halloween, Trading Spaces HTX will host a class where you can make your very own fabric-stuffed pumpkins. The event will be held Oct. 10 at the new venue. Reserve your spot here.
For Saturday, Oct. 2 from 6 to 10 p.m., the owners invite everyone in the community for cocktails, bites, music and a raffle as part of their grand opening celebration.
“We are so thrilled to finally share our finished space with everyone,” the owners said. “We can’t wait to see all the memories made here and to help you celebrate all the special moments in your life — big or small.”
